Visiting Las Vegas soon???  If you’re an avid golfer or a recreational golfer, you MUST visit Wolf Creek Golf Club & Resort.  During my trip to Las Vegas from December 26 – December 30, I (Kyle) had the privilege to play the course on December 27.

Wolf Creek is located in Mesquite, NV (90 Miles North of Las Vegas) and worth every minute of the hour or so drive!  The weather was as you’d expect in December for Las Vegas, 60’s and sunny.  The course is like none other that I’ve ever played as the views were breathtaking.  It’s very difficult to imagine how a golf course was constructed within the terrain of the Mesquite Canyons.

The greens fee which included a cart (I don’t believe that this course is walk-able due to the elevation changes) was $125.00.  While this is significantly higher than what we’re accustomed to in Rochester, NY, the views of Wolf Creek are something that you won’t see ANYWHERE else!  Considering we played on December 27th, the course was in very good condition.  There are countless elevation changes, running waterfalls, sand bunkers, and of course the Mesquite Canyons.  Ever since playing Wolf Creek in EA Sports Tiger Woods PGA 2009, I knew that someday I’d have to play the course.  Wolf Creek has won numerous awards, most recently, the prestigious 2011 “Fans Choice” award from Golf Digest as the number one public course in the United States voted on by the fans.

This contest is a March Madness bracket style with 64 courses in the United States to begin.  Each round the fans vote on each match-up until 2 remain.  Wolf Creek edged out Bulle Rock Golf Club located in Havre de Grace, MD in the championship match-up.  Wolf Creek certainly can be frustrating as the course is very difficult, however, the views make you quickly forget how your golf game is going.  Don’t go to Wolf Creek expecting to break the course record especially if you haven’t played the course before.  Many holes on the course you’ll begin 200-300 feet above the fairway and many that you are approaching a green that’s 200-300 feet above the fairway or tee which can make selecting the right club, very difficult.

In addition to the many elevation changes, there are numerous “blind” shots.  Bottom line, if you’re visiting Las Vegas and enjoy golfing, take the hour drive to Wolf Creek and see the breathtaking views yourself!
